Flame wars?
Firstly I think we all should stop for a moment here. Heres an breakdown of what actually happened.
Some of the year 2s from TP, CMM came to grace the event. They left, feeling somewhat shortchanged, and indeed there are many areas in which we can improve.
They expressed their opinions on their blogs, which is entirely fine! I mean, isnt the whole idea of blogging and all, to be have channel whereby we can really give our opinions and share our ideas? That exact notion is one of the fundamental ideas that sparked off SYMC too. And i also believe that opinions should be let known and not bottled up, thats just hypocritical.
I also tagged on their blogs, challenging them to best us. I was not trying to be cynical, nor was i trying to be sarcastic, that was a true and pure intent. Our common goal here as understudies of the Media Industry is to promote it, to encourage its growth. No?
But i DO NOT approve of the direct personal attacks made to the lady who dared to speak up. There were no linkage between the 2 topics and these remarks served no constructive purpose. Cmon guys, our name and reputation is at stake here, it is not some childish prank when you make remarks like that. I believe you will learn that there is such a thing as DEFAMATION in Singapore's Law, and you can get sued for it.
At this moment, there has yet to be any response from the creator of the blog.
I would like to conclude this episode.
Thanks for gracing the event, pardon the flaws as we are, as stated, the inaugural event, the very 1st. Im glad you beared with us, and know this - your input and opinions on SYMC is indeed critical, and we do not want anyone to hinder these opinions. We are infact siblings growing up in the same family and i hope that we can be mature enough to help each other.
As any family, there will be disputes and childishness now and then, but for now let there be peace. Peace out
